The 'progressive' left hate progressive America yet support an un-progressive nation on Eastern Europe

They're big fans of scandinavian nations too. Especially the ones who have strict immigration policy and earn their gdp by drilling for oil

Well, I think they do have good reason to praise Scandinavian nations for those nations have a pretty good quality of life, very robust healthcare system, a high degree of worker's rights with lots of jobs that pay a decent wage as well as paid vacation time, well-maintained infrastructure, lower government debt than America and low crime rates. But it is true that they don't realize those nations do have something the left aren't in favor of, stricter immigration laws. Scandinavian nations also banned the use of puberty blockers in minors.

They will claim Scandinavia proves socialism can work, even though the Scandinavian countries are all market economies with comparable regulations to our own.

The way I see things, both the left and the right inaccurately refer to Scandinavian countries as 'socialist' just because they have welfare programs. In reality having welfare programs doesn't make a country socialist, socialism refers to an economy where the means of production are owned and controlled by the workers according to Marxist theory. Scandinavian countries are actually free market capitalist countries and they are actually considered even more free market than the U.S. According to The Heritage Foundation's index of economic freedom, European countries are ranked in the top 10 most free market countries while the U.S. is on the 25th most free market.
