It seems to me that most wars fought for the last two to three hundred years are fought for economic reasons behind the scenes while being touted to the populace as 'a war of necessity' to either defend another people or to pay someone back for a sneak attack'. Even wars that are fought over access to resources, are at least partly economics based upon closer examination.
