but anyways in the expression 6/2(2+1) the parentheses group goes first, because order of operations
because of that same order, you have to distribute the 2 to the (2+1), which is three multiplied by two
the reason you do this is because the distributive property can also be written as (2(2+1)), meaning it's also a grouping operation
2 times 3 is 6, and 6 divided by 6 is 1

You’re right

Ur almost right, but ur forgetting a thing about PEMDAS. Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication/Division, and Addition/Subtraction. The reason why u pair MD and AS together is because order of operations states that M and D have the same order, following with A and S, so you would do them in the order they come in the prolem, from left to right. In this case, you would divide add 2+1, then divide 6 by 2, and then multiply whats left of these answers (3×3), giving you 9.

bro pedmas or bodmas is for equations i think

It's for order of operations (aka this)

distribution is basically a parenthesis operation
0 ups, 1mo
You would only do this if it was a problem with exponents there is no exponent in this equation
1 up, 1mo
Oh frick you're right
I didn't even catch that
0 ups, 1mo
Only with exponents my guy
0 ups, 1mo
I depends on how it is written, if 6 is being divided by the equation of 2(2+1) it is 1, but if is 6/2 times (2+1) it is 9

Distributive properties do not apply if there are no exponents
0 ups, 1mo
exponents are not part of the distributive property
0 ups, 1mo,

unless there are terms in a parentheses raised to an exponent

I just realized technically both of us are right. I know it’s weird but in math this can happen.

I like how the first thing i thought was 6/2(2+1)=pi

The phone is wrong
(I'm getting nerdy for a meme, don't judge)

According to PEMDAS, Parenthesis goes first, which would turn the 2+1 into 3
6÷2(3)
You then multiply the 2 and 3, turning it into 6
Now you have 6÷6
A number divided by itself can only equal 1
Therefore,

CASIO wins, 6÷2(2+1)=1
I have now done my daily civic service to society

ACTUALLY

Once you do parenthesis you just go from left to right SO you do 6/2 first then multiply that by 3 so phone is correct

Just according to PEMDAS
1 up, 1mo
the distributive property is considered a grouping operation, because it multiplies multiple numbers
meaning it goes before the 6

You're right dude 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

You are wrong, multiplication does not become more important than division. It is just left to right for those. The division symbol is on the left you do that first
0 ups, 1mo,

Yes, but there is still parenthesis. and you need to get rid of that before you divide. Thus, you get 1
0 ups, 1mo
Dam, your right

Phone is right

The correct answer is one.

First, do the equation in the parenthesis. (2 +1 = 3)
Next, multiply the number that was beside the parenthesis (in this case 2) by 3.
2 multiplied by 3 = 6.
The last step is to divide 6 by 6.
6 divided by 6 = 1.

Hence, the answer is 1.

It’s nine, you do left to right when it comes to multiplication and division in math you should never do multiplication first just because it is first in Pemdas the word
