I do not forgive nor condone any attacks on Israel by Palestinian groups. But, I support the premise that people who do not read history are condemned to repeat it. War is humanity's most imperfect enterprise. You never kill all the "bad guys," nor protect all non-combatants from harm. Heavy handed and unnecessarily violent responses almost always make things worse in the long run. And, seldom do people living in the long run know why people did what they did in the short run. On October 3, 2010, most Americans would not be able to tell you why Germany just paid off a 92-year-old debt, nor why they fought the war that caused the debt.
