Actually it is because -- unlike most leftists -- Conservatives have READ the U.S. Constitution and studied U.S. history -- sans poisonous leftist ideology -- and so they comprehend WHY the founding patriots did things this way. Maybe some day the educational system will be wrested from leftist hands again and real academics taught once more.
And maybe, just maybe, some of the people that feed this world deserve representation almost as much as Hedge Fund Managers, "Celebrities", and the welfare leeches.

ok listen the constituion is the not some perfect infallible document it was created over 200 year ago also the reason why the founders had the electoral college was because they thought the electors would choose the president better than the common people, but the electors don't actually act independently anymore they just are guaranteed to vote for a specific candidate, leading to a winner take all system which reduces the electoral college to nothing more than a mechanism for bypassing the will the of the people
