I actually want y’all to change my mind with this one

DeSantis is waaaay more likeable than Trump. DeSantis is an excellent administrator type of executive -- better than Trump in that regard -- but Trump is a visionary genius just like his predecessor -- Ronald Reagan. DeSantis cannot inspire a movement and an entire nation. Alas, Trump can. So it comes back to just what you personally think connotes 'better'.

Personally, if Trump fails to become president again then I would be very happy with either a DeSantis or a Ted Cruz at the helm; But I suspect it's going to end up being Trump again unless the Political Left does manage to get him assassinated before or just after the election. Their MSM and politicians and elites are certainly dog-whistle trolling for one of their crazies -- and there are a LOT of leftist crazies out there -- do do the dirty deed.
