I sleep well knowing our ancestors who starved and froze in the 1600s, fought a revolution against the most powerful nation in the world in the 1700s and won 2 global conflicts are having a good time watching their descendants have a public ugly crying breakdown over being misgendered

The difference is that JK Rowling is actively hurting people, and also no one misgenders her

He's talking, we're the ones doing the hearing.

I have yet to understand why, when there's so many great and inspiring people in the world that EVERYONE can learn from, why does all of our attention need to be focused on people who have gender dysphoria. It's everywhere in the media, movies, online. We are focusing on the wrong people. We are not focusing on the people who will inspire us to be better people.

When society loses focus in greatness and instead spends all it's time focusing on genitalia then we are doomed. And we're spiraling down out of control faster than any civilization before us.

I agree, people are too focused on genitalia. The reason people are talking about transgender is because people's hatred affects the lives of many real people. When we focus on trans experiences, we ARE focusing on people who will inspire us to be better, better as people and better to ourselves

There's a whole lot less hatred that people are reporting on.

Believing that people cannot change their gender is NOT hatred, it is biological fact. You can change the outward appearance but you cannot change biology. What people are losing sight on is science and reason. They are so caught up in their own personal illusion that they have to throw out the truth in order to perpetuate the myth.

Focusing on transgendered people lives and saying it benefits society needs explanation. How? When I said we need to focus on "great and inspiring" people, I mean people who have made significant advances in medicine, technology and so one. People who make us focus our lives on doing things that improve all of our lives. When someone announces they believe they are a gender other than the one they were born, how does that benefit anyone? Am I supposed to cheer for that person?

The left likes to say everything they do is "brave" but that's not bravery. Firefighters, police officers and our military exhibit bravery. A guy running into a burning building to save people, is exhibiting bravery. Bravery is doing something for someone else where a very high risk of death or injury is involved. Nothing the left has been touting as bravery has anything to do with bravery. Yeah there are a small handful of idiots who cause harm to those who are different, but they are a very, very, very small number of people with their own psychological issues they need to deal with. The rest of us just do not care. Announcing to the world that a person is gay, lesbian, transgender or whatever is not bravery because the vast majority just do not care. Tell me that you found the cure for cancer and then we'll get excited.

Saying that does not mean I or anyone else hates transgendered people. For the entire history of mankind we have been on a quest for truth. Now that is all being thrown aside in favor of fantasy. Talking like that is not hatred, it is factual. If you cannot discuss facts without offending someone then we have lost all sense of reality.

If people want to pretend and even seriously believe they are something they are not, it doesn't affect my life one bit. Go right ahead. However, I think gender dysphoria should be treated with psychiatric help. At least when it comes to a condition that has such a high suicide rate.

Huh, that's interesting. Science doesn't fully know why some people experience life as a different gender than what their sex dictates, but it happens, and studies have shown that the best and possibly only way to treat gender dysphoria is to transition. Even if there is an aspect of fantasy to being transgender, I think it's better to treat dysphoria than to have to go through life as a gender that your not. Also, people tend to stay the same gender throughout life. There are people whose gender can fluctuate, but for people whose gender doesn't fluctuate, they have often felt that way since childhood. I don't think I can change your views, I don't even know why I replied to you in the first place. Anyway, I'm glad we could be civil about this

I always try to be civil. I see no reason for name calling or yelling. But I am also candid. I see no reason to dance around issues because it might offend someone. There is no reason to dance around this issue. I am not here to offend anyone but then I cannot control who gets offended or not. People can get offended over the most trivial of things. My intention is not to offend but to take frank about this issue.

The funny thing about studies is there are studies that can prove whatever you want to prove. Popularity and politics influence a lot of studies.

But there is one fact, those with gender dysphoria have a high suicide rate. Regardless of opinion about the fluidity of gender, those with gender dysphoria should seek psychological help if they are suffering from depression or whatever. Just because they shouldn't be killing themselves.

This is just opinion and I am not even close to being a psychiatrist but I think gender dysphoria stems from depression. People who suffer from depression usually try to find some avenue of escape. Often it is suicide. Depression is something that some people are born with.

I think that escape sometimes manifests itself as trying to be something they are not in hopes that will take the pain away.

But like I said, that is just my opinion and what do I know. I'm just some rando on the internet.

I just don't like to see people suffer unnecessarily.

As far as gender dysphoria showing up at an early age, that is no excuse for gender reassignment surgery or puberty blockers. That is a tragic mistake that society is being pushed into doing. The vast majority of kids who think they are a different gender always become their biological gender once puberty hits.

Parents who have their kids mutilated before puberty should be tried for child molestation and child endangerment. There are several cases where this has happened to tragic and horrifying results. When the child enters their teens and can't undo what was done to them.

"why does all of our attention need to be focused on people who have gender dysphoria"

No one said it does. And being transgender doesn't mean having gender dysphoria.

"We are focusing on the wrong people. We are not focusing on the people who will inspire us to be better people"

People who accept and are open about who they really are, and don't need to hide who they are because of the hatred of other people, is not inspiring? I think it's very inspiring when people stand up to bigotry.

"No one said it does. And being transgender doesn't mean having gender dysphoria."

Are you not paying attention to the news? Do you not watch TV? Movies? It is all about LGBT representation. This is why Disney is losing millions of dollars on every movie they produce and they still will not learn their lesson. Disney has been the last bastion of safety for parents to trust their children with. But no more. Disney is producing propaganda garbage and because of that parents are no longer letting their kids watch Disney movies.

Dysphoria is a mental condition where a person fixates on the idea that they are not who they were born. Gender dysphoria is a fixation that a person believes they were born in the wrong gender.

What is interesting is that transgenderism is only concerned with two genders, while the non-binary people are of the belief that there are multiple genders.

I don't know what goes on in a person who wants to be of the opposite gender. I don't know if there is any biological, genetic or mental predispositions that causes this. It is an abnormality. And I'll probably get another 2 day hand slap from ImgFlip for saying that.

I can't imagine what kinds of stress goes on in someone with this condition. I've always been okay with who I am. Sure I would liked to have been better looking and taller and now that I am old I would love to be young again but I know there's nothing I can do about that. Surgery can't fix that.

"People who accept and are open about who they really are, and don't need to hide who they are because of the hatred of other people, is not inspiring? I think it's very inspiring when people stand up to bigotry."

Standing up to bigotry is not a virtue. Ending your own bigotry is. You cannot change someone else by "standing up" to them. They are still going to be who they are going to be. How you change people is by the life you life. What kind of person you are. If you are a person someone respects (and not because you demanded respect) then people will want to be like you.

We do not focus on being the best we can. The reason why is morality, in the left, is dead. They have rejected God and if there is no God there is no morality. Atheists can try to tell me that they can live a moral life but without God, it is not morality, it is opinion.

When we live a moral life, people respect that. Not everyone but those who are looking to improve themselves respect that.

I'm a Christian too, and, while I don't agree with everything you're saying, I agree that we should do the best we can. I believe that I am doing good by trying to support people who are different from me, and while some people might not agree with them, I think we can agree that people in general should be able to live without being harassed (not saying you're harassing anyone, I just mean people in general). Also, nonbinary people can have dysphoria, wanted to clear that up
1 up, 3w
You don't have to agree with anything I am saying. Like I said in a previous comment, I am just some random guy on the internet. You have nothing to prove to me. I am not a part of your life. I'm just a guy with an opinion. If you like my opinion then that's great. If you don't like my opinion that's great also.

Yes I know that non binary people can have dysphoria. Dysphoria is an intense dissatisfaction and unease. They are often very sad or unhappy.

Sometimes that dissatisfaction manifests itself as trying to be someone or something else.

Like the people who believe they are Jesus. But it is not just limited to Jesus, it is any significant person in someone's life. It can be a celebrity or historical figure.

I used to be in a historical reenactment group called the Society for Creative Anachronism. It was a lot of fun but I've know people who that became their reality and their live outside of the reenactment was the fake life. They carried it all too far. I knew one guy who had to leave that group altogether because he recognized that problem happening with him.

I never had that problem because I never felt like I was someone other than me. It was just me wearing clothing from a different time period. I don't know how to be anyone other than me. I'm also pretty happy with who I am. Oh sure I'd like to be thinner, younger and better looking but that doesn't give me intense dissatisfaction or sadness.
