Up until the 16th Century, that was the most diverse place on Earth. Even before humans. It was the literal center of the Old World for a reason, being a crossroads/concentrated crossing point between continents. Hence the mix of ethnicities, races, religions and cultures in the area - all which have framed and shaped our world more than that of any other area.

And yet they are not anymore, because of hatred and jihad. They were inclusive 500 years ago so they have become less enlightened or reversed evolution. I agree.
