Most games in my experience are a plateau where they stay relatively the same (or even extremely repetitive) through the very end and all you’re playing the game for is the story or the fun gameplay.
Some games (Far Cry 3) start off amazingly and then taper off and by the end they’ve fallen off a cliff. You hope in vain that the game will get better the more you play, and it never does.
And then some games (Minecraft Story Mode) are just complete trash all the way through and there is genuinely nothing good about them.
Rogue Legacy is a game that appears shallow at the beginning, but the more you play, and the more you progress, the more you discover how deep and complex the progression actually is. It has a whole lot to offer in terms of grind, upgrades, levels, weapons, armor, and magic abilities. It’s a VERY intricate progression system that honestly rivals Black Ops Cold War zombies.
Vampire Survivors has a very similar level of progression like this, but it’s nowhere near as deep.
