Except When They're Waging It

Yes, the Dems were against war until G.W. Bush offered THEIR Mainstream Media outlets Embedded Reporting slots and then since all of a sudden those outlets mysterious became pro-war, our Dems instantly became pro war . . . until Iraq was taken and those embedded reporting slots were then meaningless. Instantly those same media outlets mysteriously became anti-war again and so too -- gasp! -- did the Dem Party supporters.

But it gets even better! At the end of G.W.'s second term good ol' Cindy Sheehan took to the scene and organized Dem Party approved and embraced anti-war protests across this nation. Theni Barack Obama 'won' the presidency and as soon as his worshipers finally realized that he was NOT going to instantly shut down the engagements in either Iraq or Afghanistan, they instantly ceased supporting Cindy Sheehan or attending her rallies. Overnight she just . . . vanished as did -- once again -- the Dem's anti-war sentiments.

Well since I'm a military veteran and have been against every U.S. military venture since Vietnam, maybe it makes the point I wanted to make after all. Right or Left I'm against unnecessary new war ventures by the United States since almost none of them can be justified if one examines the reasons why politicians insist that we MUST engage.

While Republicans -- often the RINOs -- are all over the map when it comes to new war ventures Dems seem to sh*t can their anti-war passion at the drop of a leftist excuse. It's their hypocrisy that stands out in my mind; and their treatment of Cindy Sheehan is a prime example. Well that and the embedded reporting garbage.

What blows my mind is that in my lifetime MSM kind of turned war into a spectator sport. Now it's nothing new because there has always been 'spectators for war' from the locals seeing their lands being turned into battlefields to rich people and/or royals getting their sick thrills of seeing people killing people.

When WW1 came around it was decided to not do that anymore. It was doubly that when TV was invented. People were told what was going on but rarely shown. . .then the Internet happened it came full circle.

I agree, but part of the 'Bread and Circuses' aspect of it is an off-shoot of the U.S. switching to the all volunteers forces concept and making it work through maintaining vast technological advantages anywhere that we put boots on the ground.

When the draft was ended people no longer felt any sort of emotional connection to the reality of having their own youngsters stuffed against their will into a uniform and sent overseas to fight and die for a concept. Thus it was EASY for our media outlets to turn it into a spectator sport since in reality only Conservatives really care what happens to the all volunteer military personnel.

now the normal folk who identify as either republican or democrat have been pretty anti-war.
see the difference?

i do admire my fellow Americans who are still clinging onto the fantasy that we have a functioning political class, or even a two party system.

we don't.
we have a uniparty with different rhetoric.
