It's a horror term, the Finalgirl doesn't have to be a GIRL. It's a state of a character, not a description. A Finalgirl is simply the last survivor, that shows traditionally "feminine" traits (such as crying/screaming, but it's not girly to cry folks! It's just healthy!!) through the first act of the movie, but becomes a "masculine" (Examples include wielding the Slasher's weapon {normally a metaphor for the killer's masculinity being taken and weaponized}, or managing to save someone else!) aggressor by the end.

Some examples of a male Finalgirl would include Ash Williams from Evil Dead, and R.J. MacReady from the 1982 version of The Thing. :)

This is like, my SPECIAL special interest. I love the metaphors and meanings in movies, from what sort of weapon a killer uses, to the colors characters wear. Analyzing horror is probably my favorite thing ever.

Have you considered forensic science, by any chance? :>

ACTUALLY, I HAVE. Forensics interest me SO MUCH. I'd LOVE to study criminal forensics, really the only thing stopping me from pursuing forensics as a career is the fact I'd have to go to med school. :)

You know that you could just go on Alison Learning (the same online-learning academy that I go to for all my post-secondary educational needs) and take an online-course or two on Forensic Science that way, all without having to go to medical school. Alison Learning is basically free-to-use; the only thing you pay for is the physical certificate upon completing a course.

I already used Alison Learning for getting professionally certified in digital-marketing and entrepreneurship-&-business-management (and am currently in-the-works in a course for advanced science), and it took me only a month or two to get all of it accomplished. It worked perfectly for me; maybe it could work for you as well :>
