Biden has ignored enforcing sanctions blocking Iran from selling oil. Iran has made $$$$ selling oil.

Thr fact that China and others are buying oil from Iran and Russia at discounted prices and disguising the purchases as being from Malasia and other non-sanctioned countries shows that they think our sanctions are in place and openly breaking them would be of some consequence. Neither Russia nor Iran is getting full price for the oil they manage to sell to China and other scofflaws.

The Biden administration is fully aware of these environmentally risky ship-to-ship transfers. But they are not held accountable by Biden because these deals lower the price of oil, helping the Biden administration from looking worse than they already do.

Biden is still selling off the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in desperation since the Saudis refused to increase production.

Biden bears responsibility in the public mind for high gas prices.

Once again he puts himself ahead of doing the right thing for Americans and the world.

Since money is fungible, it is still adding to Iran’s coffers and frees up the government to spend on other things, such as supporting terrorist groups like Hamas.

"The $6 billion has not been accessed completely by Iran yet, but the fact of the matter is if you have a credit on your account for $6 billion, typically, people count that as access available today, tomorrow, whenever, so you start reworking your spending budget.

And by doing so, you put yourself in a position to use that money even though you have not had access to it yet. So the $6 billion that they know they’re getting, they’re using already." - Tim Scott

I thought about the possibility of them "gaming things" like that, and so did the people who negotiated the deal. Purchases can only be made from approved sources. And, if the third party holding the purse strings catches them doing this, they can be cut off. It is in their economic interest to stay true to the agreement.

Do you even know what the money is fungible means????

It means the same thing as displacement means. And it would result in denial of access to the funds because it would violate the intent of our agreement. People who negotiate important treaties have the intellectual capacity to anticipate and undermine potential "go-arounds." They are at least as smart as Senator Scott.

I never questioned whether Iran is a major sponsor of terrorism, especially against Israel.

In June the Palestinian SAMA News Agency openly reported that US weapons left by Joe Biden and Mark Milley when the Biden regime surrendered to the Taliban have now found their way to Gaza.

This was three months before the historic Hamas attack on Israel this weekend.

I read this story and it had nothing to do with weapons seized by the Taliban. It did quote an unnamed "IDF Commander," who worried that Iran might copy and reproduce things like shoulder held missile weapons based on models that might be seized by some unnamed anti-Ukraine source. None of this was confirmed to have happened but plays into a MAGA pretend narrative. The same story confirmed that weapons seized from Iran were being given to Ukraine. Do you believe this to be true? Real, not imaginary, weapons you ignore completely.

Please quote the line in the story that confirmed that actual, not imaginary, weapons went to Iran. The story I read quoted the unidentified IDF Commander saying he was afraid this "might" happen.

In "Kruschev Remembers," the former USSR Dictator, told a story that is relevant today. He said, when he became aware that we counted nuclear missile silos as armed even if the missiles had yet to be built, he built more silos on purpose. It is an intelligence and military axiom to "Plan for the worst, and hope for the best. The MAGA version is, imagine the worst, and pretend it is real.

Another source, who works in intelligence for a foreign country and also requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the subject, identified to Newsweek a specific event on August 20 in which a Russian Il-76 transport aircraft was said to have dropped off a cargo in Tehran worth an estimated $100 million, including Western weapons. The weapons were said to include U.S.-made Javelins and United Kingdom-made Next-Generation Light Anti-armor Weapons (NLAWs).

The source provided satellite imagery to corroborate the information and said the working assessment is that such weapons were being provided for Iran to reverse engineer in exchange for supplying Russia with drones to be used in Ukraine.

So, you are saying that Trump's "Savvy Genius" has put the Neo-USSR right in the middle of the Iran-Hamas connection? Trump immediately condemned Putin for aiding and abetting Iran and Hamas, right?

According to Putin's Foreign Minister the invasion is part of a larger plan to forcibly establish a Neo-USSR. Either you or the Foreign Minister have been misinformed.

No, but just like I'm not going to blame our country for flexing it's power and going after our interests, I can't blame Russia for standing up for theirs. Sure, we can jerk each other off and all that, but we can't reasonably say other countries can't do what we do.

Right?
1 up, 3y
Using your reasoning it should be OK for powerful countries to impose their military will to enforce political or economic wishes. Eisenhower using the 101st Airborne to enforce Supreme Court ordered school desegregation, is OK because it was a domestic use of our might. Should we invade Mexico, Guatemala and Panama to end a mass misuse of international treaties concerning asylum? We would probably prevail and benefit from such action. But it would cause a regional war and diminish our status, internationally. Regional trade would be negatively affected, at least.
