It's easy for heavily armed and trained commandos to attack unarmed civilians from ambush, and it is also true that people -- not in the active military -- will not deal with terrorist attacks with aplomb. Normal men, women, and children can tend to panic. Many will go into shock over seeing -- say -- their friendly next door neighbor mowed down before their eyes, stripped and then paraded around by the butchers that did her in. So forth and so on . . . according that what intelligent and educated people KNOW about human nature.
Before the event was even over, however, Netanyahu had war declared and issued a warning for Palestinian inside Israel to get the hell out of Dodge for their own safety; since he was releasing the Dog of War to redress things and about to turn possible Palestinian terrorist hiding places inside Israel into rubble.
So it actually sounds like Israeli citizens are NOT about to roll over and play dead. Of course anyone intelligent enough to read some of their history would have already known this about them.
