Relatively, but 45 min by car as it says isn't that close. But close enough for the plume of smoke to look rather big even at that distance. And it was staight out my window looking down next to my street, so between that and it being a constant thing on the tv, there was no escaping it. Not that anyone could stop thinking about it.
That neighborghood I lived at is pretty crowded, but there was this hush. People walking about in a state of shock. Even the cars somehow seemed quite. Not honking, no speeding, everybody was out of it. We were going through the motions, but out of it. Was a very sad time.
