I just loved Battlefield 1 and want to play a game that’s actually alive

Idk but have you played the last of us? Pretty good game if you ask me.

All I hear about that game is how amazing the story and characters are. Nobody talks about gameplay. Is it fun to play? What does it play like?

I’d say it perfectly balances the story aspect of the game and the fun part of the game where you get to shoot infected and marauders. If you hear people talk about how amazing the story and characters are, then they’re completely right. At least I’m my opinion.

In my experience, “great story and characters” and “narrative focused game” is code for “boring”.

Dead Space has a great story but the thing everyone talks about is its combat. It’s a 3rd person shooter with loot and zero-gravity mechanics. That game is actually fun to play.

What I’m trying to say here is that it’s one of those games where there is a bit of adventure here and there, but it also follows a storyline. It basically goes like having something to do to having a cutscene to having something else to do then another cutscene.

Though I understand some people only play games for the adventure, and it’s up to you to decide whether you want to play it or not.

At least check out some clips of the gameplay on YouTube before you make your decision, I’m not the best at describing this.

That’s what I was kinda worried about. Cutscenes. One of the reasons I bring up Dead Space is because it tells its story with zero cutscenes. You’re always in control of your character while things happen. Same thing with Half-Life, COD World at War, and Portal 2.

Cutscenes have their place in video games, but a smart game knows how to tell a story while keeping the controller in your hand.

Maybe the cutscenes in TLOU work well, idk. I haven’t played it so I can’t say for sure.

If you’re still having doubts, then maybe looking at small bits of the gameplay on YouTube could help you reach your final conclusion.
