Let’s lynch the landlord, man!

Haha! No. Everyone is just adapting to the financial incentives created by the tax system. Landlords are not responsible for how our corrupt government chooses to collect public revenue. Also, the education system and news companies are the ones who keep the public unaware of basic economic principles. So people don't know what to vote for, what to ask for.

What we need is for everyone to have the same opportunity to own land. Because we all need to sleep on it every night to live like we have to breathe air every moment. The original economists actually figured this out hundreds of years ago, but the public never hears about it because everyone is afraid to offend those in power. And the way to do it is simple - abolish all taxes except one - the land tax (according to market value). It's called "the single tax".

If we do that, everyone will have complete economic freedom +equal access to land (location, aka existence).

Let me guess, Georgism?

You could call it that, but the reason we usually call it "georgism" is so people will think, "who?" And, then, they will find out how famous Henry George used to be (and he was huge - world famous before radio or TV). And that sort of proves that the single tax idea has been suppressed.

But, actually, the idea is way older than Henry George. In fact, the single tax is what the "laissez faire" economists were actually advocating. The aristocrats asked them "how can we help the economy by raising and lowering various taxes if there is only one tax," to which the economists responded, "laissez faire".

But, we never hear about "the land issue" for obvious reasons. Look who owns and controls everything. Landed interests. The ecosystem and poor people have no lobbyists to represent them. They have no money and no influence.
