If you need a new credit card to make a purchase; then no you can't afford it. Otherwise you'd pay cash. That's how credit works.

If you're going to insist on running up more debt on more credit cards, you may want to consider doing some research beforehand. You'll be able to find out if applying for a particular line of credit will hurt your credit score.

But I'm actively trying to *build* my credit, and was advised by a credit building program to do what I did in order to build it. I'm essentially being penalized for following instructions, and that's why I'm angry.
