Technically we are still in an ice age. The ice cap, however, did not melt because cavemen were driving Hummers.

If you find a company in the USA cranking out every consumer good imaginable at cheap prices I will buy that sh!t !

Until then...the lint in my pocket demands I buy Chinese. ☹️

Just one example, at a local Ace Hardware I bought China made GE brand 3 outlet household extension cords, thinking GE brand would assure quality and only one outlet of the 3 worked. Went back and looked at Ace brand for less money- lo and behold- Made in USA and they work like they are supposed to. It's almost a given that Walmart is virtually all Made in China. Same experience with big box stores, but national chains seem to offer Made in USA options. In a lot of situations the US made is cheaper and better quality. I always look for nation of manufacture now as I comparison shop and buy anything but Made in China- even Viet Nam is better than buying crap that doesn't work for long. Another option is looking for used Made in USA. China is telling their citizens to prepare for war (a friend of mine living there just told me) . Buying from China is buying from our enemy so they can defeat us with our own money.
I used to change the words to that ZZ Top song, Just Got Paid-- Just got paid today, got me a pocket full of lint--- been there too regularfeller

What was the price of the ace brand unit?

My experience is ace hardware is nearly twice as high on every item no matter where it's made.

I have never found a cheap made in usa product anywhere.

Not being argumentative, just speaking to my knowledge.

Side note:. Having worked for GE their products are "made in usa" in accordance with legislated regulations that require a majority of assembly is done within the boundaries of the united states....that is to say - everything is assembled in america from foreign made (largely china) parts.

Sorry to be tardy with this, my laptop did an update and is sooooo sloooooow now. The GE brand wass around $7, the Ace brand was $3.50. I've seen similar scenarios since this eye opener- you know the drill, pay a little more for what you assume will be a better quality product. I agree, since inflation has hit hyperdrive classic price patterns are out the window. I personally think that's all by design. During COVID I was working as an over the road truck driver (putting my college degrees to best use since no one wanted my knowledge or experience). I was designated an "essential worker" I kept driving. Campbell soup was of course designated essential, but the cans we hauled in as we picked up loads of processed food we deemed non-essential. Didn't take long with JIT logistics for Campbells to grind to a halt. Central planners suck. I don't get how anything can be shipped halfway around the world and sold for so much less (I know why). We are being bombarded with demands to pay reparations and China goes on using slave lablor today to make our cheap products.

Slave labor is absolutely correct. I should feel bad enough buying a cheap plastic spatula made by slaves and even worse for seeing red because the price went up to $1.25.

I believe covid was a tactic employed to subjugate the masses and/or some sort of economic warfare between the us and china.

They messed up in one thing though....they tweaked SARS CoV-1 to manufacture SARS CoV-2 (Covid-19) and, although much more transmissible, was far less virulent.

The 1.4 million (questionable statistic) deceased in the us over the last three years was expected to be 15 million.

They expected a a 9-10% death rate similar to SARS CoV-1 outbreak in 2003 which sickened approximately 9,000 people nationwide but killed about 900.

That virus from nowhere popped up, spread around the globe, then disappeared in a single year, more or less. No masking, no vaccines, no shut downs, no panic.

End of chapter 1. 😄
