I was a shocked when I listened to it again. Pence got an applause for the "It's not my concern" comment. But as it goes on those applause turned to boos.
My opinion is the audience was on autopilot when they started applauding before they realized what he said. Because, no one, not even Democrats, would have applauded that "It's not my concern" line. Well... some Democrats, anyway. I can't actually speak for the audience and I wasn't there but they did boo him later on. I kind of think it took people awhile to get over the shock and realize what he actually said.
Regardless, he just obliterated whatever chance he had. I don't think he should ever consider running for anything ever again. Those words will come back to haunt him in whatever campaign he tried running in.
