90% + of that 1.6% were Democrats.

I could be wrong but I think the only two parties that existed in 1860 was the Democrat and the newly formed Republican party. The Republican party grew out of the Whig party which fell apart in the 1850's. The Republican party was formed to oppose slavery.

That being said I would say that 100% of that 1.6% were Democrats because they were the pro-slavery party.

You know the rules. You only get to say "false" if I said definitively that there were only two parties. I prefaced my comment with "I could be wrong...". I put zero amount of research into that comment and I figured there was the possibility that there could have been more than one party.

I've laughed at white quilt for years, and have been kick off of sites for it...beware of white quilt, it is a powerful entity and has no sense of real history. God Bless and Go in Peace.

Did you learn how to type from me? I don't know why my brain does this but I often hit a "Q" when I meant to hit a "G" and vice versa.

I have no white guilt. The only things I feel guilt over are the times when I really screwed something up. I don't feel guilty for stuff that other people did because I am not responsible for what other people did or do, they are.
