90% + of that 1.6% were Democrats.

I could be wrong but I think the only two parties that existed in 1860 was the Democrat and the newly formed Republican party. The Republican party grew out of the Whig party which fell apart in the 1850's. The Republican party was formed to oppose slavery.

That being said I would say that 100% of that 1.6% were Democrats because they were the pro-slavery party.

Did you learn how to type from me? I don't know why my brain does this but I often hit a "Q" when I meant to hit a "G" and vice versa.

I have no white guilt. The only things I feel guilt over are the times when I really screwed something up. I don't feel guilty for stuff that other people did because I am not responsible for what other people did or do, they are.

It's almost as though you needed a ridiculous amount of money to keep a bunch of people alive, and not every person could afford that, let alone every white person. 🙄
