Tbh there should be three archives (along with the pasta archives)
- Major events: Arkuums, large scale incidents, etc
- Minor events: Phases, dramas, controversies, etc
- Works: Stories, mega threads, thoughts, etc
Minor events that you mention don't need one.
Archives are still brimming with users telling stories about themselves and calling every minor moderation action a stream-wide event.
It's unhealthy. Moderation isn't drama, it's a regular thing and a necessity.
New users and Memechat-posters are always demanding that their interaction with a random troll be recorded and talked about everywhere as if it's a sitewide calamity.
It's unhealthy.
Then there's users doing things just to get a mention in the Archives, it's the same as users making abusive troll alts just to get a mention in some post.
We can't have that.
Stuff that's worthy of being remembered and affects the whole stream. Nothing new, we've had some version of functioning archives since the start of MSmg even if it wasn't a public post.
