You came across the surreal/absurdist/dank meme, you laughed, you reposted (it's legal).
You didn't make it, but you completely understand how it's good humor. The image in question does not require context, explanation, or creative addition. It's a shitpost regardless of the situation you post it in; it's independent and self-sustaining humor.
(Assuming you laugh naturally at modern shitposts.)
Imagine this image being posted in a group chat discussing effective farming techniques where someone mentions a banana. It's funne.
Imagine the image being posted in a family group chat where the news of your grandma's death has just been broken (she made outstanding cookies). The image is still funne, you would laugh and maybe even respond with the skull emoji- at the cost of being kicked from the group, but it doesn't matter.
If you have reposted and recycled this sort of stuff,
Congratulations. You post shitposts but we do not grant you the rank of shitposter.
The image is not completely irrelevant to meme culture, it shows an object of particular interest to the shitposting community.
Unfortunately, there is absolutely no context or explanation (or creative addition) and we cannot try and laugh at it.
The object itself isn't shit, it's usage is.
If the same object was used in a gif that builds up to a sexy animal figure exposing their self, and then suddenly cuts to show a group of men laughing and pointing towards the viewer (even better: a sad Wojak realizing how depraved he has gotten spending his life in front of a computer screen) we would laugh.
There was no creativity involved and the object was thrown into the stream with no value added.
If you have posted stuff of the kind,
Congratulations. You don't qualify as a shitposter, you just post shit.
The ability to create original shitposts that don't recycle existing objects and concepts makes you a certified shitposter.
Examples of recycled objects: Bernie sitting, Dancing cat- she is not dancing, Forgor 💀, Whar 💀, Rembr 💀, Mind-blown emoji used in sarcasm, furry characters.
Examples of recycled concepts: Responding absurdly to tragedy ("My uncle died in 9/11, he was a pilot", Mind-blown emoji used in response to own child's death), Meme-man-type spelling errors, misunderstanding similiar-sounding words as pop culture references (Messy ink pen = Jesse Pinkman), pedophilia jokes, "Drake the type of guy...", racism jokes.
Creating self-sustaining memes is the best way to start off to become a certified shitposter.
Here is an example of one:
Creating new concepts for shitposts might be difficult, remember that it's not one person controlling what is laughed at and what is unfunne. Change comes gradually, old concepts inspire new concepts.
Taking the above-mentioned Ibuprofeno as the example: Shrek became an integral part of pop culture, and incidentally, shitposting communities.
Older shitposts talked of worshipping Shrek as god, building a religion around Shrek or admiring Shrek's handsomeness. Ibuprofeno takes Shrek and creates a banbana-type shitpost, which doesn't even require the viewer to even know Shrek for it to be laughed at.
However, using an old object in a new popular trend is fairly easy. You would be considered a shitposter if you do it consistently, but you won't be certified.
Imagine Bernie sitting on the "Chinese spy balloon". It requires no work and remains mildly funne; the object was already there for use, and popular culture provided it's own situation.
I don't know how I came up with this either
i had this yfm cosplayer in my photos and i thought it was kinda funny
so i stretched it out
and added some random latin text
