$95 million in the opening weekend, how impressive. Not even halfway enough to break even with its original $250M budget. May I also point out the Mario movie made well over its $100M budget on the opening weekend and made over $1 billion overall for the entire time it was in theaters.
No, I do not have an opinion of thinking black folks should "stay in their place". The way you leftists falsely accuse people of being racist is f**king stupid. I never attacked anyone based on their skin color, I only criticized a corporation for making a crappy movie. Also, it's hypocritical of you to be like "BFD" to the Mario movie's thriving success but you ardently defend the this crappy Disney movie and act like making $95M is an accomplishment just to 'spite' conservatives.
The little mermaid remake is one of many examples of Hollywood casting a black person as a redhead, to me the only acceptable example of this is Idris Elba as Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
I never said there should be any rules of how a mermaid should look, their skin and hair color can be anything. My point is that in many movies where the characters are white and red-haired, Hollywood likes to have such characters played by black actors even though a black actor playing a character that is white is inaccurate to the way the character is played in the original story. The 2014 remake of Annie is another example of this.
pffffffft, not even sure if when I was a kid if I ever even read Little Orphan Annie in the Sunday comics (those blank white eyes perturbed me. Should she have no pupils in the movies too?), and I never saw the 1st movie despite Tim Curry being in it.
But if anyone is that upset over the issue, they're too young to be on this site or are in need of more age appropiate hobbies.
Boycotts, btw, are still an option. Robin Williams, Eddie Murphy, and now The Rock had ruined many a classic I saw as a child on The Wonderful World of Disney, and so I have thus not seen a single one of them. I mean, sure, if Duane Johnson starred in a remake of the Incredible Mister Limpit I'd get miffed, but he still ain't gonna see my money. And I ain't gonna give him the publicity.
hahaha, I forgot that one.
The one with Charles Laughton scarred me for life. Beyond depressing. I won't watch that or any other version ever again, let alone that cartoon.
Oh no! Was the Disney version in French and starring an actual French hunchback?
I tnought the Anthony Quinn version from the 50's was the one that held up to the source material the best. Most of the other versions completely corrupted the dark ending.
Who cares about a silly Disney movie? Lol, told ya! Go woke go broke! No! It's actually a good movie! You just hate it because you're a racist and you hate black women! See? This is why people shouldn't tamper with a classic movie by making a shitty remake of it.
