I don't know if this is correct but I heard they have ears on the front of their head so they can hear really well. Like how we have eyes on the front of our head so we can see but and with more depth

They have their ears on the side of their head, but one is slightly higher. And their facial disk helps channel the sound. They can calculate the difference in when the sound reaches one ear then the other and pinpoint the location of the sound.
