Her brother, Ash, and his friend Scotty, played a tape recording of the Necronomicon (book of the dead). This made the candarian demons (already released into the forest) really angry. They possess some trees, attack Cheryl, then the demons possess her once she gets back to the cabin. Once possessed, Cheryl attempts to kill all her friends.

It's Evil Dead.
