theres this stuff called gloom dont stand in it too long you permanently lose hearts

it is not permanent, if you eat certain meals w/ things from the sky islands, go up to the surface, or get gloom-resistant armor it will go away, it is more like the yellow hearts but in reverse

If you want more zonai devices, explore the sky islands. Islands will be distant, so you will have to use the skyview towers to reach them and get to the dispensers. Also try experimenting with different materials and zonai devices. A combination with what looks like a weak monster part will actually be one of the most powerful weapons...
