Being anti-science and anti-progress and anti anything that might expand someone's sphere beyond an infinitesimally small concrete-set bubble is hardly the hallmark of the better educated and those who seek to be.
That's the whole point of Conservatism, isn't it? Not having to strain oneself with anything that might disrupt an overly simplified unwavering reality?

Having to adapt require brains. Not having to minimizes the need for one.
