this is debate. the indigenous people of north america weren't our enemy. i also think what many are saying is that killing large numbers of civilians has not been effective in subduing any enemies, at least in the last 80 years. to reiterate, the general population is not our enemy, governments or governing individuals are. north korea for example.

As I said, he did what had to be done so not to waste US soldier's lives in a war that was almost over, but he still did what he did. I would say Bush/Cheney and Obama/Biden are on the hook for actual war crimes, and crimes against humanity, whereas WWII POTUS actions could be justified.
