People were running into telephone poles in the desert, and authorities couldn't understand why, so a study was conducted, and the conclusion was that since there was nothing else to see out there, drivers were looking at the poles, and focusing on them, ultimately running into them. The takeaway was that the car will go where the driver is looking.
The same thing is going on with all the racism this, racism that we see every day now. If we look for racism everywhere, we'll see racism everywhere.
