y'know, one of my friends brought up this and that same friend had an excellent explanation.
He said that the people back then could have been in a drought. Then they look over at the cows and they see the baby getting milk from the mother's utter. So they get a cow with a baby and start milking it. They then find that they can drink the milk for some hydration. That is how we figured t out.

Well, since God bestowed our first parents with the scepter over all the animals, I suppose he gave them an instruction booklet for safety during operations and warnings on avoiding the dangerous properties of some creatures.
