So, here is how politics works and how they’re counterintuitive to the public but intuitive with the government. The government only works when it has a problem. Reform politicians identify a problem (real or fake, usually fake) and address it usually with liberal legislation. In my opinion there is no such thing as conservative legislation except maybe identification of rights among people. Rights they already SHOULD have but thanks to special interest groups, now have to verify it. These same special interest groups (usually liberal with so-called conservative values) do the best they can to antagonize the undesirable elements and put forth liberal legislation.
Pedophilia is already a crime. Parents do not need more rights and teachers less, while legislation that allows gay or trans people to work, marry, or just be customers need protections from zealots who want to weaponize the first amendment to protect their religious freedoms. Something that even the Republican lead Supreme Court has, so far, rightly thrown the f**k out as unconstitutional, thankfully.
Republicans should be for civil rights, not against them.
That said, I don’t support affirmative action nor even unions but I also am not strictly against them as if a company does not hire anyone based on the color of their skin, their religion, orientation, sex, gender whatever that SHOULD be addressed and legislation of those protections should be necessary if the courts are constantly bottlenecked with these types of lawsuits.
With the current political climate, I can’t be against unions or affirmative actions. There are just too many assholes to justify this even if there may be a group of people playing the victim. When too many do, it needs to be addressed. It is terribly unfortunate, to me, that the government has to step in and I agree they’ll very likely screw it up because they were likely elected by those same liberally inclined special interest groups and will likely intentionally sabotage any decent or necessary legislation.
Really, the only decent protection that’s worked in the last 100 years has been civil rights and social security. This suicidal need to eliminate both are going to be the Republican parties undoing. Not fraudulent elections, immigrants, or border security. The Republican Party were founded on two key components that today far too many are against.
A United America.
An America where the government leaves people the F**K alone
