A gun is always shot with the intent to kill not wound. If you or other people don't understand that then stay far, FAR away from any projectile weapon designed to kill. Don't need a bunch of sadists running around with guns.
Cops don't shoot people in the leg like you see in movies and TV shows. They aim for the biggest target on the human body, which means likely death. Byrd aimed for that area.
