Read a book dude. Read Thomas Sankara: African Revolutionary, With the Peasants of Aragon, even the World Economic Forum touts China’s successes. An independent journalist who visited the Zapatistas studied their access to resources and living conditions versus that of the rest of Mexico. Global poverty researcher Jason Hickel finds Cuba is the most sustainably developed country in the world per his sustainable development index.

The Soviet Union dissolved but also had many accomplishments, including virtual total national literacy, rapid industrialization, huge improvement in life expectancy and living standards, free healthcare, etc.
under the leadership of the Communist Party in China they have made the greatest contributions worldwide to eliminating extreme poverty. Cuba is the most sustainably developed nation in the world, has virtual total national literacy, better health scores than the U.S. and a longer life expectancy.
Life improved for peasants under anarchist collectivization during the Spanish Civil War. Life worsened under fascism.
Chavez’s reforms were successful at first but ultimately the government could not support the programs when the price of oil fell, and along followed poor economic policy.

ah yes, idustrialization in the soviet union the thing that KILLED MILLIONS during the great famine of 1930, conditions in the soviet union were horrible and tyrrany spread to most of the soviet republics, especially germany
oh yeah, where else has industrialization killed millions? china dont forget mao forced people to make steel in their backyards, and im from cuba, i dont even wanna talk about why cuba was horrible, but here we are i guess. when communism started civil liberites were suspended(as with all communist countries) cuba ranked (within latin america) with some of the highest living standards even exceeding some european countries, this was before communism of course, when the communist party did take over a “wave of terror” was established within the 70s at least 14000 were shot and 100,000 died or were killed in total. not to mention the economy is crappy. love that my family had to leave cuba so we could keep our livelihood and somebody on the internet is telling me cuba is great(but forget the massacres)

Cuba lost rights and liberties after the revolution? You realize they overthrew a literal dictator, right?

Yes, collectivization wasn’t a great process in Russia or China, and I think you can absolutely blame the state for many of the deaths that resulted from forced collectivization. Still, rapid industrialization allowed them to accomplish something capitalist countries took decades and centuries to do. They developed out of an agrarian country and became economic superpowers, all under the direction of the Communist Party. The population nearly doubled under Mao. I think Stalin saw something similar.

so because the soviets and chinese became superpowers the death of millions is justified, doesnt sound like good casus beli to me. as for cuba, one dictator replaced another, from the old cuba to the one we have now there was always authoritarianism, whats your point? intresting that communist countries cant ever rule by democracy and need to opress the people, and when industrialization starts, millions die

Both Russia and China were prone to famines before industrialization and many countless died before the Soviet and Chinese famines too. Many counts of the deaths are exaggerated by fraudulent academics.

Marxist-Leninist countries govern by Democratic centralist structure. The oppression is because the party tries to suppress counterrevolutionary activities and defend the revolution with the vanguard party. I’m not justifying it, that’s just why it happens. It isn’t my preferred style of government (or lack thereof).
0 ups, 1y,

why do you think counterrevolutionary activity happens? because the people in a communist state dont want to be subjugated under said communism, gee i wonder why
0 ups, 1y,

Do you really think that’s the case for the majority? Revolutions wouldn’t implement socialism in these countries if the people weren’t socialist-minded. I mean, even anarchists like myself have been persecuted under so called communist states. There are reasons to oppose them. My only intention was to highlight some of their successes, since they get panned so heavily for being “failures”.
0 ups, 1y
because they are faliures, the nations always end up with instability like russia or have to build themselves back up with help from capitalism like estonia
