not too green, eh

not too green, eh | ON AVERAGE, 1 MEGAWATT OF WIND CAPACITY REQUIRES 103 TONS OF STAINLESS STEEL, 402 TONS OF CONCRETE, 6.8 TONS OF FIBERGLASS, THREE TONS OF COPPER AND 20 TONS OF CAST IRON. THE BLADES ARE MADE OF FIBERGLASS, THE TOWER OF STEEL AND THE BASE OF CONCRETE. FIBERGLASS IS PRODUCED FROM PETROCHEMICALS, WHICH MEANS THAT A WIND TURBINE CANNOT BE MADE WITHOUT THE EXTRACTION OF OIL AND NATURAL GAS. STEEL IS MADE FROM IRON ORE. TO MINE ORE REQUIRES HIGH ENERGY DENSITY FUELS, SUCH AS DIESEL. TRANSPORTING ORE TO STEEL MILLS REQUIRES DIESEL. CONVERTING IRON ORE INTO STEEL REQUIRES A BLAST FURNACE, WHICH REQUIRES LARGE AMOUNTS OF COAL OR NATURAL GAS. | image tagged in windmills | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

My mom once worked at a place that made fiberglass boats. She had to wear a mask and basically had to cover up from head to toe. She and others said they were better of with a three pack a day habit instead of putting in a shift in there. Paid well but all the safety regs that had to be done made a lot of employees constantly looking for any other place to work.

No one is afraid of it, we just think it’s hilarious that people call it green.

A rupture in the Keystone pipeline has led to a 588,000-gallon (14,000-barrel) spill in a Kansas creek. It's the largest spill from an onshore crude pipeline in nine years and by far the biggest in the Keystone system's history, report John Hanna, Ryan J.Dec 12, 2022

oil is not safe either, nor pipelines, nor coal mines,
Ive heard this, not sure if true, but since the 6th Century, wind was used to power ships across an ocean..

In small ships, at very slow speed, at the mercy of the wind. One would think we'd get past that

We left depending on sail technology over 100 years ago for very good reasons. There are no good reasons to rely on it again.
