Absolutely, our union rep was married to a manager at the plant. Never helped an employee except in extreme cases because it was too obvious to deny or slide under the rug. But we will deduct our dues every time.

My union rep literally abandoned me when she was supposed to help me fight a case which resulted in me getting fired, forced us to work with covid-positive people, and spammed me with mail every day for months telling me to vote democrat, even handing out voter guides to PA union members in the form of a small book that only trash-talked and lied about conservatives and showed 5 (R) and over 80 (D) candidates they told us to vote for.

I literally called and asked to leave the union because they've never done anything and I was tired of getting spammed and direspected, only to be told I'd have to pay a YEAR'S worth of union dues to leave. I asked where that clause was located in the contract I signed, she couldn't tell me.

This was back in the mid 1970s, mind you, but the one time I needed the intervention of the upper hierarchy of my union -- which essentially I had been bullied into joining -- I was informed that the entire board was in Hawaii on a two weeks long 'business' jaunt . . . courtesy of my union dues.

That was my experience with union membership as well.

That's why I say that all unions should be required to never partake in any financial or political influence or interests, to or from them. Just like politicians, they're supposed to serve you and fear you.

Yes; but long long ago Unions became synonymous with Dem Party politics and the Dem Party ALWAYS makes exceptions to the rules for THEIR political and financial interests.
