Well first of all, you said "he actually thinks", which is a huge leap. What people like him do is parrot approved talking points from their overlords, they don't think for themselves.
That said, in his mind, and in the minds of those who believe like he does, it doesn't matter if he's being fair and honest and politically neutral. Because to them, people who think differently than they do are wrong, probably even subhuman, and therefore not worthy or deserving of fairness or any modicum of respect.
