vaguely related but i got a little story for ya..
When I was a teenager about 20 years ago it was almost impossible finding work. There were maybe 100 relevant jobs available between thousands of people so you'd send out 100s of resumes and at best you'd get an interview for a part time temporary position or a pyramid scheme.
Anyway, cut to being a little older and I realized this isn't working and probably wont, so I go down to my local fast food place and offer to work for cash, for cheap. I didn't have experience but I'd work for 25 a night. got a job instantly.
Soon as I got the job I started learning all the other skills in the company (frying, packaging, cooking, phones etc), 1 year later im the head driver, can pick my own shifts, getting over $100 a night for 6 hours and because im reliable and skilled now, several other companies offer me work on every free day i got.
Couple years of hard work and I end up with a car, a house, lots of work and 30k in the bank.
Getting rid of the expectation of minimum wage literally brought prosperity.
I have other libertarian-esque parts of my life but thats the relevant one for today.
