Maybe she did grow up celebrating Kwanzaa but I have very strong doubts that she actually did. For the most part Kwanzaa is predominantly celebrated by white liberals. I don't know that for a fact but I would not at all be surprised that if only 0.01% of blacks even think about celebrating it.
The African language used in Kwanzaa is Swahili. No African-American who descended from slavery were Swahili, not even 1. That is like saying, "Hey! Let's make a special holiday for Romanian people and we'll do it in Irish Gaelic".
