I believe every generation before was more racist than the last.
One might think that with each generation, there would be less and less racism but there is in fact, more of it.
I wonder if racism is not really a binary issue but a spectrum.
Much like gender. We’re all racist. Some more than others.
That doesn’t mean discrimination should be tolerated but I don’t think you can simply shout it down. It’s a fallacy, one that could be fixed with logical reasoning.
Racists have no valid logical thinking and are going to be unreasonable in their arguments as a defense mechanism to prevent them from having to personally conclude they are wrong.
It can be observed what wasn’t considered racist then, is racist now. What isn’t considered racist now, will be considered racist in the future. Though, retroactively was always racist.
Interestingly, I cannot think of anything that was considered racist then that is no longer racist now. So, I think racists hide behind this all consuming idea of racism to become an inevitable imposition of social limitations as some kind of attack on their identity. Because, of course, society continues to associate skin color as a form of identity.
Sorry. You probably think I’m babbling. On pain meds. Surgery. It’s a bitch.
