She's just misinformed and mistook ratio (United States Government spending COMPARED to GDP, as in a fraction of) for actual revenue collection. The GDP doesn't go directly to gov't coffers, and we operate at a deficit. So the % is basically a comparison.

Also the figure she cited matches the usual long term average, except for 2020, when the figure hit a record at nearly double with 47.66%, and 2021, when it was 43.6%

Doesn't surprise me at all. Never has. All taxes, including the hidden ones on fuel and businesses comes to about 40%.

Isn't it funny with democrats and progressives, that they think they know how to spend your money better than you do. And as a result they try to take as much of your money as they can.

It's always that promise that you're going to get back more than you gave, which means some sod somewhere won't, but nobody cares about that poor sod. Nobody realizes that the poor sod is them.

Partially to hire more people to work for the government, to manage all the free stuff they're giving to people.

They had to because they didn't have enough money for them all.
What I've found interesting is how many city employees that stayed are constantly complaining publicly about how much work they have to do.
