I couldn't say there were no liberals there because there were. In fact all of them were liberals, they were classical liberals. Classical liberals are the same as modern conservatives and libertarians.

Modern liberals (or Progressives) are Marxists. Marx wasn't alive back when our country was founded, so there were no Progressives. However, socialism predates Marx. The French Revolution was a socialist overthrow of the monarchy, then it devolved to the rich, then it devolved to anyone with a franc more than you. It was a bloody revolution and the French people were worse off after it was all over. Our founding fathers were not interested in socialism and saw it as a failure.

DUUUUUDDDDDDEEEEEE!!!! You won't find anything about economics in the Constitution. It is not about economics, it is about how the government was set up.

What you will find is that all of our founding fathers were very familiar with Adam Smith's "The Wealth of Nations". Coincidentally The Wealth of Nations was published in 1776. Smith's "The Theory of Moral Sentiments" was published in 1759 and the founders had read that as well.

Here's the thing. This nation and free market economics (which Marx called capitalism) both require maximum freedom to the individual. Anarchists (not the Marxist anarchists) would argue that you cannot truly have a free market and a government. While that is true, you can have a mostly free market. The freer the market the more prosperous the people are, ALL OF THE PEOPLE.

Smith's ideas have been expanded on by later economists/philosophers but Smith laid the foundation of the American economic system.

In the late 1800's/early1900's Marxism was brought to America by the kids of rich Americans who sent their kids to college in Europe. That disease has been growing and infesting America so much that we don't even look like the America our founding fathers gave us. And it is just getting worse and worse every day. We have lost soooooo much freedom because of that.

When Jefferson was the governor of Virginia he has several bills introduced into the Virginia state legislature that would allow slave owners to free their slaves. Virginia law stated that slaves could not be freed. Each time that legislation went through the legislature it got voted down.

But they don't teach things like actual history in liberal history classes.

Do want to know why he read the Koran? And just so you know the thought the Koran was nuts. He wanted everyone to read it to see how crazy it is.
