He stopped drilling and suspended leases which stopped new drilling, causing the price to go way up. What we see in the chart (which has no source) is not drilling but price. The title is misleading which threw me off.

He did attempt to pause new drilling on federal land (which is the minority of where drilling occurs) but he got blocked in court... And then a few months ago unblocked.. I don't know if he's tried to pause new drilling on federal lands again since then or not. And no, that isn't what caused the price to go way up.

Also.. if China ends their lockdowns, brace yourselves... the price will probably be going up again.

It wasn't just federal lands. It was shelf drilling and other seasonal drilling.
