Insurance companies?
It was when Nixon gave China most favored nation status and opened up trade. The Chinese government could make everything much less expensive because they don't have much in labor costs. Slowly more and more Chinese made products where imported. When Americans saw that they could by Chinese made goods for much less than American or goods made in most every other country, we started buying them exclusively. That cause American manufacturers to either shut down or start making products from parts made in China. Americans didn't see the faces of those who where forced into making those products. China has done a good job of hiding these people from the rest of the world but word got out regardless. Now we're stuck. We have no choice but to buy Chinese made products, especially in the electronics market. We have made a Communist nation, who would have otherwise collapsed in on itself, rich and very powerful. The Chinese Communist government, unlike Nazis, fascists, socialist and other communist nations, has gotten over their absolute hatred of capitalism and uses global capitalism to make the Chinese government rich beyond what they ever could have accomplished without capitalism. They are not about to change and throw capitalism out anytime soon. It is not the kind of capitalism that makes people free. This is a different kind of capitalism where the Chinese government is free to buy and sell but the people are not.
