I am more anti-war than most people. I worked for the VA for 30-years. I have seen the effects of bullets, bombs and other implements of war on the best of our citizens. Isolationism is not the answer. It emboldens aggressors to attack. The Germans sunk the Lusitania. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. The Russians invaded Ukraine, twice.

My limited research tells me that people who are secure in their knowledge and beliefs, are not easy targets for propagandists. Conversely, people who foster unpopular beliefs, such as racism, antisemitism, sexism and the such know they are wrong but want to be right. Propagandists customize their messages for these people. That is why the Pro-Russian movement in America has robust support among White-Nationalists. The incidence of early life PTSD in this cohort suggests a source for their turmoil is unresolved feelings associated with some sort of child abuse. I always keep this in mind when I interact with such a person. The pain they feel is greater than the pain they are trying to sow.
