PoliticsTOO is not a Ph.D. Philosophy seminar. We don’t demand citations to support every proposition. A certain amount of intellectual sloppiness, even rudeness, is tolerated here. Sometimes you just want to log in to say, “f**k Donald Trump.” Or: “f**k Marjorie Taylor-Greene.” Or: “f**k Mitch McConnell.” Or: “f**k Joe Manchin.” Or even: “f**k Joe Biden.” It’s not productive or feasible to tone-police on a meme site, favoring style over substance.
Our stance is generally pro-Democrat, pro-Biden around here, of course, but this forum isn’t meant to be a hothouse of Biden cultism. Frankly, the idea of a brainwashed Biden cult that matches the scale and intensity of the MAGA movement’s wagon-circling around Trump is laughable.
I like Joe Biden. It’s evident he’s a kindhearted leader who means well for our Republic, and has been surprisingly progressive on some matters. The past 2 years have been more legislatively productive than any other time in modern government, despite narrow Democratic majorities and virtually nonexistent Republican cooperation.
But Joe Biden has made mistakes. He is not a soaring orator. He’s failed many times, in word and deed, in my opinion, to match the urgency this moment requires.
So, I’ve made memes criticizing Biden. I’ve featured them here. Biden-critical memes don’t violate stream terms simply for the fact they attack the President. Healthy skepticism of those in power is necessary, even if (especially if) they’re on “your side.”
However.
There is a world of difference between criticizing Biden from a standpoint of facts-and-reality, making good-faith arguments linking Biden Administration policies and real-world effects, and wildly alleging that he’s the ringleader of an international pedophile cabal based on nothing more than the fact he was once photographed at a press event touching a woman’s shoulders.
The latter isn’t “critique.” It’s political vomit, and we don’t tolerate it here any more than any janitor worth his salt would tolerate vomit in a bathroom. Don’t clean up the vomit, and your customers will leave.
Elon Musk, write that down
