You have to remember that when people are leaving California the reason is important. California has more Republicans than Texas. People fleeing the state because of economics like in the market crash would tend to be from all types including the working poor. They would bring their leftist politics. The current state of migration appears to be ideologically driven by Covid authoritarian overreach and cities becoming unsafe so more likely republicans are leaving.
