While I may not like something somebody says, I will not do anything to impair their right to say stupid or hateful things.
I will invoke my right to ignore them, block them, and sometimes, like now, I will debate them.
In the U.S. the right to freedom of speech is sacrosanct, provided it doesn't break the law.
There are a few forms of speech that are illegal, but hateful slurs that don't call for direct violence aren't one of them. Hurting your feelings is not violence.
