The stories the NY Post ran about Hunter Biden's laptop in October 2020 got the full-court press from the entire "Team Biden" administration, big tech, the entire US intelligence community, and everyone/everywhere in between. Naturally, the DOJ and FBI were at the heart of the operation, apparently run directly by the democrat Party.
I don't know the details of the hacking involved, but I'm sure they did. They threw everything else they had at the NY Post, so why wouldn't they do that too? It's amazing they didn't plant child porn into every single NY Post laptop.

Everyone working for the Party all lied and said Hunter's laptop was nothing more than Russian disinformation. They even produced 51 "professionals" from the intelligence community -- overnight -- who all mouthed the very same Party line.
Naturally, they had to squash the NY Post's entirely accurate reporting, else risk having the Senile Creep obviously and irretrievably lose the election the following month.
By the end of March, 2022, the NYT, the Washington Compost et al totally admitted the NY Post's pre-election reporting was absolutely true. By then, what did they care? The Senile Creep had been illegally installed. And 2022 is when the Party realized the whole Biden Crime Family has to be thrown into its refuse heap. Their usefulness to the Party quickly came to an end. They could all go straight to jail. If the Party can convince all the useful idiots that the Party is thereby cleansed and freshened, so much the better.
The shellacking the Party will take on November 8 could get things moving very quickly.
The only question now: who'll be the next democrat installed in the White House?
