I love that I can switch my work schedule to part time and my Obamacare subsidy increases. I'm learning that work is for the suckers who vote conservative! Get that government cheddar!

Disagreeing with a policy doesn’t make one a racist, years of actual discrimination laws does. The next time someone tells you Democrats are not racists..... who looks at skin first and makes decisions on it. Who passed the Fugitive slave law? Northern Democrats, who segregated Federal buildings and military... Wilson. Who started the “One-drop-rule” (which is still the accepted standard today). Who started Jim Crow, KKK, separate but equal, red lining...all Democrats. Who expects all black to think the same, Biden and his racist Democrat Party. Facts all.

So. Just so we're clear here. I've never claimed that being democrat automatically means you're not racist.

I think that most liberals and progressive white people in the United States are racist in ways they're not aware of. It's because they were raised in a system built by racists to make sure their racist children always had the advantage.

It's hard to understand systemic racism when you're benefiting from the system. You'll find most of the posters here in PToo agree with that. We understand that we were raised in a system built to give us advantages and keep non-white people down.

Now. Let's talk about the "gotcha" card you think you've played here.

Do you think you're the first one to bring that up? (spoiler: you're not).

So. The Democrats of old. Yes. They were the slave owners. They profited and perpetuated the slave system. Even the ones in the north. YEah. Even them. They were the party that split off and formed the Confederacy. They were definitely behind segregation. They were responsible for Jim Crow.

They were also the conservative party.

They said things like "America First." And "Make America Great Again". They demonized immigrants other than English ones.

If I had been alive back in the day, I would have been voting Republican. Because they were the progressive party (for the time). Keep in mind, they were still racist AF, but progressive for their time.

Note I am using the past tense. Because that was then. Things have changed. LIke many conservatives, you think that things today equate to how things used to be. But that's simply not the case. Because the Republican's of yore (the same party that wanted universal health care, and a universal basic income) isn't the Republican party of today.

Can you imagine today's Republican party pressing for universal healthcare? Or a universal basic income?

They wouldn't. Because they're the conservative party.

So. Next time you want to whip this out, remember that you're really talking about the conservative party.

Are you sure you would be against slavery. You appear to be someone that goes allow with the popular narrative. Democrats are for groups and staying in power. Republicans are for individual rights and responsibilities. By universal health care, I take it you mean government health care (socialism). First there is a difference between health care and health insurance.

I am 100% confident I am against slavery and would have been then as well.

Because which party wants to dissolve gay couples marriages? That doesn't sound like individual rights at all. Sounds like the opposite. That's a big government telling you who you can and can't get married to.

Which party wants to make it okay to fire you because your gay?

Which party wants to take away the rights of trans people to exist?

Which party took away the rights of women to access to an abortion?

Which party forces 11 year old girls who've been raped to give birth?

The Republican party likes to say they're for the individual, but the opposite is true. They want to use the government to force everyone to live they way they want them to. Not how the individual wants to live.

Continuing, universal basic income is another socialist disastrous idea. We have a capitalist system. You cannot solve capitalist problems with socialist “solutions “. This is what Democrats have continuously done. Wilson, Federal income tax, tax the rich. It was supposed to be only the top one percent. Minimum wage, started by FDR as racist solution giving into pressure Because blacks and Chinese were working for less. FDR again, social security. Families were responsible for themselves. FDR again, had wane and price controls during WWII. White collar workers were going to leave jobs, but were offered health insurance to get around the socialist problem.

This is a word salad of nonsense.

Honestly, you need to read actual history instead of the made-up history you've been fed.

Companies didn't offer workers health care benefits during world war 2 to "avoid socialism" they did that to attract workers. Due to the Stabilization Act of 1942, which capped prices and wages, they couldn't offer higher wages to attract scarcer and scarcer workers, they instead turned to offering health insurance packages.

Health insurance became an untaxed wage, and unseen benefit. Now it has become a perceived right. See how Democrat’s socialism works. Truman movie theater 20% tax of 1948. This is what put most small theaters out of business. Bottom line, people came to America (slaves exploded), because they wanted to live and feed themselves without the permission from the King. Democrats continually want to be the King. Continues $15.00 minimum wage, some jobs aren’t worth $15.00. Minimum wage is racist (see Thomas Sowell) and hurts people of color every time it’s raised. Democrats continue the one-drop-rule to divine and control people.

You're just spewing stuff you've heard, but haven't really understood or internalized now.

Yeah. Democrats want to be king. Okay. Whatever. That's not worth responding to.

But let's get to what is worth responding to.

The minimum wage being raised is not racist. I have a great deal of respect for Mr. Sowell. He's a smart guy. I don't really agree with a lot of what he says. This is one of those things. When it comes to the minimum wage, he usually points to South Africa where the unions pushed to have the minimum wage be a national standard rather than be for union members only. Which is what prevents Blacks from being employed (by underpricing union labor).

That's not racist. That's incredibly normal. Unions argue for a universal wage for all labor workers. Not just theirs. And then they say that Union labor is more skilled, and that's why they charge MORE.

So. Unions. By pushing to have universal minimum wage raised are making sure that non-union labor are able to enjoy a higher standard of living. Unions charge more because their members are more skilled at the job. And those young black workers? They can join the unions too.

The employer is still free to pay for whatever labor he wants.

So, you can see that Mr. Sowell is incorrect in his believes about the minimum wage and union labor.
