An inpatient abortion for these same patients will cost in excess of $20,000. That is the average cost of one hospital day ($10,000) plus the average cost of a simple surgery in a hospital OR ($11,500). Any increase in unnecessary hospital and OP use will add to the competition for these finite resources, causing prices for all of the rest of us to increase. That is called "inflation."
Abortions for rape and incest victims will require extensive paperwork from health care providers attesting to the filing of charges with the appropriate law enforcement agency, etc. This will add the specter of potential legal hassles that many hospitals and doctors will choose to avoid. Rape and Incest exceptions will have the double hassle of outrageous costs and increased unnecessary scutiny into their private lives in a emotionally charged period.
